1-1/2 cup butter/ margarine or spread ( if using spread,use one that has more than 65 % vegetable oil.) , softened
1-1/2 cups white sugar
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract( enhance the flavour, on your preference)
4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon hot water
3/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups and 3 tablespoonschopped walnuts / peanuts ( on your preference)
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- 2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one by one, then stir in the vanilla extract when almost finished.
- 3. Stir in flour first, next add in chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
- 4. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.( test by toothpick to check if its cooked)
I made two mistakes when preparing the chocolate chip cookies this time, so hope these reminders would be helpful for you guys :)
Reminders:
1. Check when its around 8 mins, sometimes when the size of the cookies is not that big, they tend to be ready sooner than it said. I was worried that they are not cooked, so I leave it longer in the oven and you can see some of the cookies are black at the side :(
2. When its almost ready ( the colour is golden brown and the chocolate flavour smells so good), you can turn off the oven and leave it inside for another 3-4 mins, otherwise the cookies will be overcooked and too crispy. :(
